Soldiers Of Fortune (For Crim)

Jordan shot a look at Alexis from across the room before slumping down onto the bed and swivelling away, picking up a book.

"No." The Soldier replied flatly, flipping the book open and bending the cover back, eyes pinned on the worn book. "Males and Females don't share rooms." Jordan looked toward Alexis from the book, analysing him a moment before lowering the book and flopping back onto the bed.
"The pack has clothes, pyjamas. A communicator-- most people call it a phone; tooth brush, tooth paste, comb. You know. Stuff you'll need." The Soldier gestured to the door opposite. "That's the bathroom. Feel free to take a bath-- you need one." With that, Jordan rolled over, facing away from Alexis, and continued to read the tattered book.

Alexis bristled at the look that was given to him, furrowing his brow as he was shunned in favour of a book. But he could have sworn... his eyes thought they caught a glimpse of bumps under the baggy clothes that suggested...

He huffed, setting the bag down on his new bed, unpacking all the items and laying them out, inspecting everything before picking up the towel, change of clothes, shampoo and conditioner, glancing at the phone for just a moment before deciding to wait until he bathed.

"I won't be long," He mentioned as he headed to the bath room, shutting the door and noting the lack of lock, neatly putting everything down and starting up the water to fill the tub, making it as hot as he can to the steam filled the room thick enough for the door to vanish.

It really was no surprise that he fell asleep, wet hair plastered to his face as he soaked away a lot of his worries and fears for the future.

It was a couple of hours at least before Jordan finally realised that, hey, the new kid hadn't gotten out of the bath yet. In any luck, he'd sliced his wrists open and the Soldier would have the room back as a single. Letting out a sigh, the androgynous recruit stood from the bed and wandered over to the bathroom door, not even bothering to give a knock before barging in.

It was quite obvious that Alexis was asleep on first sight, an annoyance passing over Jordan's face.
"I need to use the bathroom too, y'know." The Soldier stated flatly, wandering over to the bath and crouching down beside it, prodding the other in the side of the face. This was why it was better to live alone.

The spray of water was accompanied by Alexis grabbing the hand that prodded his face, gasping and throwing the person back before standing and grabbing the towel to cover himself up with. "Fuck, I am so sorry," Alexis apologized, pulling the plug on the bath water, which was looking a little murky, pulling his hair from his vision and feeling rather stupid for falling asleep in the bath.


Holding out his hand, Alexis offered to help Jordan up, glancing over the other once more with his sharp vision, wanting to try and pick out any detail that would state if 'it' was a he or a she. "I'll clean up the mess, I apologize again, I'm so sorry for doing that... it's instinct I guess."

Letting out a sharp grunt at the force in which Alexis applied in his push, Jordan landed on the bathroom floor with a thud. At least the newbie was pleasant enough to offer a hand up, but on taking his hand, the Soldier yanked him down, forcing a forearm across the top of his chest and rolling on top of him, getting into the other's face, pinning him with an abnormally powerful grip; something that indicated perhaps one of this particular Soldier's enhancements were strength.

"Don't do that again." Jordan hissed, giving Alexis a sharp glare before forcefully pushing away from him, standing and storming from the room, slamming the door. Obviously not one of the calmer recruits.

What a wonderful way to make new friends, maybe he should be an asshole more often, obviously that was the way to be friends around here. Alexis got up off the soaked floor after Jordan slammed the door, rubbing his chest and sighing. First room mate in three years since he'd began solo missions for Scroista and it turns out to be a temperamental Strength user. Perfect.

So after cleaning up the mess he made on the floor, dumping all the wet towels and other bits and pieces into the laundry basket provided, getting changed into similar clothes of black cotton pants and shirt, Alexis stormed out of the bathroom.

"What the fuck is your problem?! I offered you a hand up, and said sorry. You got a problem with me, let's get it over and done with right now so we can move the fuck on with our lives."

Jordan glanced at him from the bed, sitting up and standing.
"Bring it on shit-fuck. I'll break every bone in your fucking body." The Soldier took a half-step forward, resting a hand in the pocket of the recruit-standard pants that were issued to everyone.

It was a real mystery what Jordan's problem was. All anyone knew is that all possible rommates hated the particular Soldier, were constantly requesting a room change, and could never figure out if it was a he or she.

The only person who knew was Rache. And he respected Jordan's decisions and preferences as much as he did anyone else's.

"Oh my pleasure, shit stain," Alexis answered, cracking his knuckles, returning the staring with a glare of his own, taking the same half step forward, matching moves with the other. Strength would have to be one of the abilities Jordan had, so the other, Alexis hoped, wasn't speed to match.

"Like I'm scared of a wanker like yourself, acting all manly and shit, no wonder you have a fuckload of friends," He added, holding out his hands to the empty room, shaking his head. "Your move, and you'd wanna make it a good one...."

The Soldier had no idea what the other recruit's abilities were; if strength, they would be evenly matched for the most part-- if speed, that could easily be countered. Sight was easy-- blind the bastard and take him out. Hearing, another easy one-- but agility. That would be a pain in the ass. Not to mention the training-- what sort of training did he have?

But those thought processes weren't so important now.
"I don't need friends." Jordan snapped, suddenly launching at Alexis, darting across the room with unmatchable speed, the baggy shirt sticking and conforming to the curves of the Soldier's body with the mere speed of the movement. Bringing a fist, aiming for the other's face, Jordan let fly a rather steady punch, one that would definitely hurt if it impacted.

Fuck, if it wasn't for Alexis twisting just out of range, his head would have been taken clean off, bending backwards, both feet and hands on the ground until he flipped upwards, kicking out in the same way he did Devin when he fought her back in his apartment, not that it was much of a fight and he was feeling bad about that now that she was dead.

But this person, claiming not to need friends, was a little different, so he was gonna need to use everything in this room to beat Jordan, or at least show that he can keep alive. Steadying himself on his hands, he kicked out a couple more times before righting himself and lauching a punch for the ribcage on the right side, following it up with a twist and a few steps away from Jordan to gather a thought.

"Speed, and strength. Nice combination..."

There was no amusement in the Soldier's eyes, no change in the irritation that played Jordan's features, as training kicked in and almost every move of Alexis' was matched with a counter or a dodge-- that was until a miscalculation of distance, speed and force was made, the other's fist impacting with the aimed for ribcage, a loud, satisfying crack confirming the hit.

"Aren't you in for a fucking surprise." The recruit sneered, doubled over. But a few broken ribs weren't going to do jack to stop this Soldier; another quick movement, and Jordan was once again in Alexis' face, twisting around so they were basically standing side by side before reaching up and grabbing the back of the other's head, forcing it down and bringing a knee up.

A rib for a skull. That was fair, right?

Alexis wasn't about to let himself loose his head over this guy, or girl he still wasn't quite sure, which nearly happened again when the irate Jordan appeared once more, in his face, grabbing a fist full of hair and brought his head spiraling down towards the knee rising to meet him, punching the knee sideways before it hit, skimming the top of his head and reaching up to grip the hand entangled in his hair, holding onto it so the next bit wouldn't hurt as much.

Now standing, just under Jordan's height, Alexis tipped up onto his toes and with a quick movement, gave Jordan a peck on the lips. If Jordan was a guy, he'd splutter, throw the brunet away and scowl before trying to continue the fight. If Jordan was a girl, she's splutter, look dumbfounded at being kissed and give the guy a few seconds to get away himself, or break a few more ribs.

There was a lot more at stake with a simple kiss like that, but Alexis didn't have time to worry about that now, rather suffer whatever was to come of it when Jordan decided to pursue or kill him for it later, right now, it was his distraction.

Jordan's grip tightened on Alexis' hair, only to yank at it and force him away, sweeping a foot under his in order to send him sprawling to the ground, the now free hand coming up to press against the Soldier's mouth, a dark glower crossing the recruit's gaze.
"You're a fucking fag." The fight seemed to cease at that, Jordan side-stepping Alexis and retreating into the bathroom, slamming the door yet again, but this time using a make-shift 'lock', pinning the door closed with a broom locked behind the sink and across to the wall, blocking off the door completely and preventing it from being opened.

Sitting down on the edge of the bath, Jordan rested a hand over the broken ribs, fingers feeling for exactly where the break was, the location confirmed by the sharp pain.

That would need to be checked out.

Alexis was pretty sure he had a now intimate relationship with the floor as he was now sprawled over it, close to his side of the room, rolling over to one elbow, the other raised up just in case it was followed by a blow, looking at Jordan's dark response to the kiss, and the supposed insult before the bathroom door was shut and supposedly locked. Alexis didn't know what he was sexually, so the fag comment just slid right off him.

Getting to his knees, Alexis took a moment to calm himself before standing and rapping his knuckles on the door and calling out. "Good fight, retard. I'll go get the nurse for you so you don't puncture a lung trying to move. Once you're healed, I say we go for round two," he said, still trying for a warrior's respect before heading out of the room and down the hall for the nearest nurse's station or something along the lines of someone to help him find his way.

He really should have been paying attention rather then counting the tiling on the floor as he was shown around, pressing a hand to the slight bleeding of the torn stitches in his arm from earlier. Jordan had done more damage then he first thought.

Immense pain. That was all that Jordan was really able to focus on at that moment, the statement through the door not even rising a response. When the Soldier was sure that Alexis was gone, however, was when that baggy shirt was removed in order to inspect the damage, the material dropping to the floor.

Jordan had always been one of those people who's gender was hard to distinguish. She didn't make it any easier with the way she dressed, or the way she acted, but since a particular event in her early teenage years, the male gender had felt like the safer of the two. Thankfully Rache understood that. He helped her. Though as to why he'd stuck her with another room mate..

Lifting a shaky hand to her ribcage, the Soldier began to feel around again, bruises already forming along her abdomen, and she suspected across her knee. This would be a bitch to deal with in training.

It took a bit of roaming around, poking his head into a few rooms here and there to ask for directions, but he got there in the end, explaining the situation and finding the nice nurse whom he first met, getting the stitching in his arm redone and rebandaged before returning to the room, nurse in tow for Jordan, rapping his knuckles on the door to the bathroom once more.

"Oi~! I brought the nurse, so let her in so she can fix you up!" Alexis called out, moving to his bed to sort out the gear he was issued, packing everything away neatly in its place before sitting down, waiting fora response.

Hesitating a moment, Jordan lifted herself from the tub, only pausing at the sharp pain that shot through her rib cage as she made the wrong movement.
"Alright-- fuck." She shouted back, growling slightly under her breath as she made her way to the door, cautiously prying the broom away and opening it slightly, making sure it was just the nurse in view before letting her in.

The nurse gave a warm smile, one of the few others that were aware of Jordan's situation, slipping into the bathroom and waiting patiently as Jordan re-'locked' the door, jamming the broom against the wall.

"Fucking bastard got me in the ribs." The Soldier muttered under her breath, returning to sitting on the edge of the tub, the nurse following her, crouching down and tentatively reaching out to probe at the bruised area.

"Looks like he did a good job." She commented, pausing at Jordan's sharp flinch. "They don't feel broken hun." She assured. "I'll wrap you up nice and tight-- give you a few R-Pills." Jordan nodded absently. R-Pills. The medical break through of the science team that allowed quick healing and regeneration practically over night-- though a broken rib would take a few days at least, even with the pills.

After setting the ribs, rather painfully, and wrapping the Soldier's torso up tightly, the nurse fished a bottle of pills from her pocket, popping too into her palm and holding them out for Jordan, who quite happily too them.

"Any problems, you come see me Dear." The nurse stated warmly, patting her on the head before moving to the door, rather knowingly unjamming the broom and opening the door, stepping out and closing it behind her. "Thank you for coming to get me Hun." She said to Alexis with a cheerful smile. "You have any problems, you come and see me all right?" With a friendly wave she headed out of the room, already late for a routine check-up.

Once everything was packed away in it's proper place, Alexis leaving the phone until Rache came around next to ask him about it, the teen paced about the room for a few minutes before sitting back down on his bed, laying out to test the softness of it as the nurse tended to Jordan.

The bed was nice, better then the standard issue bunk bed in a dorm of ten Soldiers that he was used to before he was allowed to go solo on missions, folding his arms behind his head as he stared up at the ceiling, remembering what seemed like a false life now. But it wasn't, and he still remembered everything, and everyone he killed.

Sitting up as the nurse came out and thanked him for getting her, he smiled and nodded as she left, laying back down to close his eyes. What a day.

Jordan took her time in the bathroom, not worrying about the door now, standing from the edge of the tub and turning the sink tap on, cupping water in her hand and downing the R-Pills with a wince. Staring at herself in the mirror a moment, the Soldier contemplated how to handle the situation; her first thought was to just go into the room and go to bed. Just sleep and hope her new roomy didn't try anything stupid. Though there was the option of actually trying to, God forbid, talk to him. Sighing, she pushed away from the sink and collected her shirt back up, pulling it over her head and heading out of the bathroom.

Of course, she went for the first option, pulling the door closed behind her and wandering over to her side of the room, climbing onto the messy bed and laying down, facing away from Alexis.

Jordan was as silent as she'd been when Alexis had first been introduced to the room, the tension that basically exuded from her a thick roil of irritation.

Turning onto his side as Jordan shut the door on the way to the messy filled side of the room, Alexis propped himself up on an elbow as the person did their very best to ignore what he had been deemed as a problem. Unfortunately, ignoring Alexis means he wasn't going to just simply go away. In fact, he was going to prove a point by staying here as Jordan's room mate. He wasn't exactly sure what the point was, but he knew it was important.

He figured he was in need of sleep also, so he wasn't going to press any more buttons tonight, not if he wanted to live through the night at least, so after laying back down on the bed once the curtains to the small window were shut and the light off, he crawled under the thick covers and curled up a little for warmth.

"Hey, Jordan..." He started, talking into the darkened room, not a hint of bitterness in his voice as he lay there, blinking as more light filtered into the room via outside, outlines of furniture becoming clear to Alexis's keen eyesight. "Secret's safe with me."

There was no physical or audible reaction to his words, but Jordan definitely scowled against the darkness. Her secret had better be safe with him, for his sake; if anyone found out, she'd know who to kill.

The night passed without a hitch; no alarms, no disturbances, just silent darkness that ebbed around the room like a thick tide pool.
When dawn broke, the cool light of the rising sun spilling in from under the curtains, Jordan was already out of bed, the bruising on her ribcage extensive, but the broken bones almost completely reset and healed.

Sitting on her bed, showered and in cargo pants and a tank top, sharpening a rather large hunting knife, the Soldier had obviously decided that there was no point in trying to keep her secret from Alexis any longer. As he'd stated the previous night, he already knew. So she was more than willing to pretend that he wasn't even there.

Alexis figured that right now, since he didn't automatically wake when the sun rose, that this was his resting days before he once more became the assassin he once was, shoving the blankets over his head comically as the sun invaded the room, sitting up and rubbing his wild hair back into some sort of order, noting Jordan sitting on her bed, sharpening a rather large knife.

"Morning..." He grumbled, sliding out of bed to go to the bathroom, returning only to crawl back under the covers, only his head and shoulders sticking out as he sat against the wall. "Where would I go for training?"

He wasn't about to let Jordan ignore him just cause he knew something. That was just mean.

It took Jordan a few moments before she actually acknowledged that Alexis was awake and talking to her, the slab of stone she was using to sharpen the blade make a rather sharp sound as she slid it off the tip, lifting the blade to inspect it absently before gesturing in his direction with it.

"You don't go anywhere for training." She stated flatly, never taking her eyes off the blade. "New recruits don't train for at least three days after being allowed in these dorms." Leaning back against the wall, the Soldier finally lifted her gaze from the blade. "Have to make sure you're trustworthy before building your strength up again."

Unfortunately for her that meant her training schedule was backed up a few days; room mates were always expected to deal with new recruits, showing them around and basically holding their hand for the first few days.

"Breakfast is at six in the cafeteria if you're hungry. I suggest you have a shower before then. We're not coming back here until later this afternoon, if we're lucky."

"Three... days? Fuck my life..." Alexis complained, crawling out of the covers once more, grabbing the phone on the desk beside his bed and flicking it open for the time. Half an hour before breakfast was served, plenty of time to get some exercise, have a shower and get dressed.

The floor was cold as he lay out, doing a hundred sit ups before rolling onto his stomach to do a hundred push ups, standing and doing a handstand, steadying himself for fifty of those push ups also. Fuck it, he thought, if he couldn't start proper training just yet, he might as well start building up all the strength he lost getting to this point.

After he was done, he started contorting his body around in ways no normal person could, limbering up as much as he could before the little alarm in his mind told him to stop and go take a shower, grabbing fresh clothes, socks and shoes in his size before heading for the bathroom.

Washed and ready, Alexis felt rather good as he stepped back out into the room, brushing his still damp hair and tying it back into a little plait. "Right, ready to go when you are. What's gonna keep us out all day if not training?" He asked.

As Alexis did his thing, she did hers, actually cleaning up the mess that was her side of the room.
It didn't take long; a bit of tidying here and there, folding and putting away clothes, and making the bed.

"Breakfast. Tour of the place. Lunch. Tour of the place. Not to mention you'll probably want to pick out some actual clothing, then there's dinner, and I think Rache said he wanted to see you if we got a chance." That was probably the most talkative she'd be, when she was explaining things. It was the only social thing she did without much argument. Jordan had done this often enough as it was, usually before her room mate was either killed or begged to be moved out.

Standing from the bed, she grabbed the hunting knife and slipped it into one of the pockets of her cargo pants, picking a rather large jacket from a hook on the wall and heading out through the door without another word, quickly slipping the jacket over the top of her shirt and doing it up.
They'd go to breakfast, she'd eat and he'd probably find someone better to talk to; if she was lucky, he'd go off with them rather than stick around her.
